NSFAS Card Application , Registration And Activation Guide

In 2023, NSFAS launched a digital transformation initiative for all NSFAS beneficiaries at the TVET colleges and universities. As a part of this initiative, students were to receive their allowances and make their transactions through the new NSFAS bank card. Previously, this was done through limited channels of the NSFAS wallet.

Are you a new NSFAS beneficiary and want to know more about the NSFAS card, its allocated partners, registration, and activation? Keep reading this guide.

NSFAS Bank Card Registration

As the NSFAS card service was launched by the organization, university students were sent SMS and emails to register for their NSFAS accounts. All they had to do was click on the link and register for the card.

For starters, you must register with the service provider to receive the NSFAS bank card. If you were unable to register for the bank card at that time, here is how you can do it now.

  • For this, download the Tenetech Student App or the relevant provider service app (Coinves, eZaga, and Narraco) on your phone or laptop. You can also visit the official NSFAS website to register with these partners.
  • After this, hit the Register button and enter your student number.
  • Next, fill out the personal details and upload a picture of your South African ID document to verify that it is you submitting the application. You are also required to upload a selfie of yourself holding your South African ID documents for security reasons.
  • After a careful evaluation, a bank account number will be assigned to your student number.
  • The bank card is delivered to the college or university you are studying in. You can get your card from the institution’s student office.

Activating a Mastercard is simple, but if you have never registered a bank card before, you may face a hard time registering your Mastercard. Step 1: Grab your card and go to the “Message” section of your phone.

Step 2: Tap the “Create” button and enter “31571” in the small upper bar to send an SMS.

Step 5: The card will be automatically activated when you receive the first NSFAS payment.

How to Apply for NSFAS Mastercard?

If a student is enrolled in the NSFAS program, he will be eligible to get an NSFAS Mastercard. You can apply for the NSFAS program via the online platform or visit the nearest NSFAS office. If your application is approved, the NSFAS will ask you to visit the office and give details.

The purpose of these details is to create an NSFAS account and then issue a Mastercard so the student can effortlessly make all kinds of transactions. Visit the NSFAS office and provide them with authentic details, and your NSFAS Bank account will be created. The NSFAS Mastercard will be delivered to the mentioned address in the details you have given to the bank.

Where to Collect Your NSFAS Mastercard?

If your NSFAS application has been approved, you can get the card at the address you have provided with the details. However, the majority of people claim that their cards are not delivered to the address they provided to the bank. In such situations, you can visit your institute or the nearest NSFAS office. Usually, they deliver the card to the institute that the NSFAS-enrolled student attends.
